Custom Cast Copper Pivot Door for a Luxury Villa in Guangzhou

Location: Huijing New Town, Guangzhou, China Project completed: June 2025

A villa entrance sets the tone for the home beyond it. For this residential project in Guangzhou, Kingston created a custom cast copper pivot door with a distinctive honeycomb texture and carefully coordinated architectural hardware.

An Entrance with a Distinctive Identity

The entrance was designed to become a focal point of the residence. Its textured copper surface brings warmth and depth to the architectural composition, while the vertical pull handles introduce clean lines across the detailed metalwork.

Completed in June 2025, the project illustrates how the door surface, opening system and hardware can be considered together to create a cohesive entrance.

A Copper Surface with Depth and Character

The defining feature of this door is its three-dimensional honeycomb pattern. Raised edges and recessed areas create a textured surface with a strong visual rhythm.

As daylight moves across the entrance, the raised details catch the light while the recessed areas create shadows. These changes reveal different aspects of the pattern throughout the day.

The warm copper tones complement the entrance composition, giving the door a distinctive appearance from both close up and a distance.

A Pivot System for a Statement Entrance

The door rotates around an offset pivot axis rather than conventional hinges positioned along the edge. This opening arrangement suits the architectural character of a substantial entrance door and makes its movement part of the design.

For a bespoke copper door, the pivot hardware must be selected according to the final door dimensions, weight and construction. The supporting structure, fixing conditions and finished floor level should also be coordinated before production.

Coordinated Hardware and Pull Handles

Hardware contributes to both the appearance and everyday use of an entrance. For this project, the vertical pull handles were coordinated with the door proportions and surface design. Their clean form contrasts with the honeycomb pattern.

Handle length, placement, finish and fixing details should be considered alongside the door design. Coordinating these elements early helps bring the surface, hardware and frame together as one composition.

Planning Your Custom Copper Pivot Door

Each entrance has its own design and installation requirements. To develop a suitable proposal, the following details should be confirmed:

  • Overall opening width and height;
  • Door configuration and surrounding fixed panels;
  • Preferred surface pattern and colour;
  • Opening direction and pivot position;
  • Pull handle design and lock requirements;
  • Finished floor level and structural fixing conditions;
  • Exposure to rain and the required sealing details.

A Bespoke Entrance by Kingston

The Guangzhou project combines the visual character of cast copper with the architectural presence of a pivot door. Its honeycomb surface and coordinated hardware give the entrance a clear identity.

Kingston works with homeowners, architects and project buyers to develop custom entrance doors suited to individual buildings, from the initial design discussion through drawing confirmation and production.
